They stock the shelves during the day because they sell more groceries than Shaws and Stop and Shop. You want them to stock the shelves at night? Then be prepared to spent at least 10% more for your groceries because of payroll. I find Demoulas/ Market Basket has more employees on the floor helping customers, the prices are cheaper, they have more registers open, fewer lines. What more could you ask for?
First of all let me completely disagree with SS from Danvers. Stop your whining and get over yourself. I have shopped there for over 7 years and while I recognize that the jobbers are there during the middle of the day, they do not provide the nuisance SS describes. I hate it when people blow things out of proportion like this. That said, I love the prices, the hours are convenient, parking is easy to get in and out of compared to other stores, and the aisles are wide enought to fit a Mack truck through. The selection is excellant. BIG stores. I love the deli and meat department. And on those few occassions I need flowers there is always a large assortment unlike other stores. If I needed a part time job, I would consider applying here. SS from danvers, go to Shaw's or Stop & Shop where the stores are empty. You can have all the peace, quiet and space you could want. Enjoy the premium you pay for that!
Ah....the old DeMoulas. Gotta love the prices and selection. At a time when prices are soaring, The Market Basket seems to be able to keep their prices as low as possible. I rarely shop anywhere else unless it's an emergency!
I will admit that they have the cheapest groceries but the frustration you have to put up with is hardly worth it. The aisles are very narrow - barely wide enough for two carts to pass. They stock the shelves during the busiest shopping periods causing traffic jams in aisles...especially when vendors are stocking shelves. The vendors don't bother to make sure anyone can get by in the aisles. The store also puts items on the floor when they don't fit on the shelves making the narrow aisles even narrower and adding to frustration. I called and complained about the stocking during busy periods, blocking aisles and stuff on the floor and was basically told "too bad so sad". THe bottom line is that they have the lowest prices and because of that do not feel compelled to provide anything remotely resembling customer service or a positive shopping experience.
