Knapp Elementary School is an educational institution that offers a range of academic and extracurricular programs for students in kindergarten through grade five. It provides classes in art, math, physical education and music. The school has a gymnasium and media center that offers book borrowing options, as well as enables students to participate in accelerated reader program that stimulates recreational reading in students. It maintains a parent-teacher group that funds the AR Book Rewards program and helps to purchase reading materials and tests. Knapp Elementary School is a chartered organization of the Coolspring Community Association. It involves children between the ages of 7 and 12 into Cub Scouts and Pack 871 programs, which focus on citizenship training and personal fitness. The school is a part of Michigan City Area Schools, which governs elementary, middle and high schools.
