Marcela Kitaigorodsky, Psy.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral, Miller School of Medicine. She is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist at the Center for Cognitive Neurosciences and Aging (CNSA) and an investigator for several state and federally funded research projects. Dr. Kitaigorodsky specializes in the neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis of neurodegenerative conditions, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's Disease and related Disorders. As a bilingual and bi-cultural geriatric Neuropsychologist, she is also focused on cross-cultural psychology and the development, application and selection of culturally fair tests that can be utilized among underrepresented populations. Dr. Kitaigorodsky completed her Internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Rehabilitation and Neuropsychology. During her training at the world-renowned Ryder Trauma Center, which is a Level 1 trauma center, Dr. Kitaigorodsky acquired extensive experience assessing, treating and rehabilitating individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurodegenerative illnesses, neurological and metabolic conditions, chronic health conditions, and neuropsychiatric conditions. Native to Argentina, Dr. Kitaigorodsky is a fluent Spanish speaker, and contributes greatly to the clinical and research mission of serving minority populations. Clinically, Dr. Kitaigorodsky conducts comprehensive and brief neuropsychological evaluations, individual and group psychotherapy, and neuro-rehabilitation/cognitive training. Dr. Kitaigorodsky works alongside a multidisciplinary team to maximize treatment effectiveness and adjustment of patients and their families. Her approach focuses on improving overall functioning and reducing the negative impact of injury or illness on quality of life.
