Dr. Luanne Force is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She is a member of the faculty in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery.Dr. Force received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University. She then attended the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, where she received her medical degree. She then completed her general surgery residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia in 2016. After residency, she completed a Colon and Rectal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland clinic in Florida. She then stayed at the Cleveland Clinic Florida to complete a Clinical Associate year, gaining extra clinical and operative experience in advanced minimally invasive surgery, complex anorectal disease, complex inflammatory bowel disease surgery, re-operative rectal surgery, pouch surgery, and fecal incontinence. She has also received additional training in the field of robotic surgery. Dr Force has written several book chapters and peer reviewed articles. She is a reviewer for several international colon and rectal surgery journals. She also attended and presented at several national and international surgical and colorectal meetings. Dr. Force is a member of the American College of Surgeons as well as the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Research interests include rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis and anorectal disease.Dr. Force joined the division of colon and rectal surgery in 2018. Since her appointment she has established and serves as the Program Director for the Rectal Cancer Program at University of Miami. She established a separate multi-disciplinary team for the treatment of rectal cancer, working with the cancer center as well as members of multiple other departments, with focus on improving the quality of rectal cancer care at the University of Miami.
