Located in Miami, Gloria Floyd Elementary School is an educational institution that enrolls more than 650 students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. Established in 1977, it employs a staff of over 70 teachers and paraprofessionals, including counselors, media specialists, psychologists, and occupational and physical therapists. The school conducts classes in various subjects, such as math, social studies, science and English. It provides basic learning sessions in Spanish, physical education, music, and arts and crafts. Gloria Floyd Elementary School s media center stocks books of various authors, such as Marc Brown, Stan Berenstain, John Schoenherr and Kathryn Lasky. In addition, it offers before- and after-school programs and maintains a parent-teacher association. The school is a part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, which owns and operates various elementary, middle and high schools.
