AIDS Walk Miami is a fundraising event organized by Care Resource, which is a nonprofit, multicultural, community-based HIV/AIDS service organization. Founded in 1998, Care Resource provides a range of education, medical care, community outreach, early intervention, support, psychosocial, and information and referral services. It conducts more than 7,000 HIV tests every year. The organization serves the men, women and youths of Miami-Dade and Broward counties in Florida. Care Resource operates an evaluation services unit that offers technical assistance to program managers. It maintains SoBe Thrifty, which is a store that sells merchandise at discounted prices. The organization is funded by individuals, foundations and government agencies.
