Organized in 1846, the Methuen Fire Department s mission is to protect the citizens of Methuen, Mass., with fire suppression and fire prevention services. It also responds to medical emergency calls. The Methuen Fire Department has a staff of less than 100 personnel, including more than 70 firefighters. All personnel are trained at the Massachusetts Fire Academy's training program and are certified as emergency medical technicians. From four locations in Methuen, it operates several fire engines and ambulances. Every engine company carries defibrillators, as well as a thermal imaging camera to assist firefighters in locating victims in a fire.
