He has a special clinical and surgical interest in robotic surgery, management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), laser treatment for kidney stone disease, erectile dysfunction, and urinary incontinence. Dr. Parikh provides up-to-date and cutting-edge treatment options for cancers of the kidney, bladder, and prostate.
- Bladder CancerDr. Swearingen grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and graduated with honors, with a major in economics and a minor in chemistry. He was selected in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He received his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He then continued his training through his residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, completing publications in the field of renal stone disease. During both medical school and residency, he participated in international medical trips, which included travels to Ghana and Peru. He has a strong interest in kidney, prostate and bladder cancer, stone surgery, management of prostatic enlargement, as well as robotic surgery. He lives in Chicago with his wife, Gina, and their golden retriever, Ollie.

- Kidney CancerDr. Parikh has presented novel clinical research at various local, national, and international urologic meetings. His research interests include kidney cancer, prostate cancer, holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia, and penile prosthesis for erectile dysfunction.
- Kidney StonesDr. Unni was born in Maywood, Illinois. He grew up in Crown Point, IN and attended St. Mary’s School and Andrean High School locally before pursuing a degree in economics at Northwestern University. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine and stayed there for his General Surgical and Urologic training which was completed in 2004. He then returned to Northwest Indiana to practice Urology. Dr. Unni’s areas of interest and expertise include treatment of kidney stones, non-surgical and minimally invasive approaches to female incontinence and prolapse, kidney, and bladder, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted treatment and male sterilization (vasectomy). In his free time, Dr. Unni enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife Sajil and his three children. He also enjoys playing basketball and reading fiction.

- General SurgeryDr. Kumar grew up in Crown Point, IN and graduated from Merrillville High School before pursuing a degree in Biology, with a minor in business administration from the University of Southern Indiana. She earned her M.D. degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Urology from the Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan.
- Minimally Invasive SurgeryDr. Rao was born in Chicago and grew up in Olympia Fields, Illinois. He attended Saint Louis University for his undergraduate studies as both a Pre Medical and Presidential Scholar. He attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine where he received a Medical Degree with a Distinction in Research. He completed his residency in Urology at Loyola University Medical Center (including rotations at Children’s Memorial Hospital and the Hines VA Hospital). During his residency, he published and presented multiple projects on a wide array of topics including kidney stones and urological cancers, won the Chicago Urological Society Resident Essay contest twice, and achieved the highest score on the resident in-service exam in the country. He has a strong interest in minimally invasive surgery (including laparoscopy and robotics), men’s health, and laser surgery to treat kidney stones and enlarged prostates. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, and two sons, playing tennis and golf, and watching sports.
- VasectomyA vasectomy is a procedure for male birth control. It entails cutting and sealing the tubes that carry the sperm from the testicles to the semen. That means that ejaculations will no longer carry sperm, preventing conception during sexual intercourse.
- Robotic SurgeryDr. Capoccia was born and raised in Kansas City. He attended the University of Kansas for his undergraduate education and majored in human biology. He completed his medical school training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he was selected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He moved to Chicago where he completed his urologic residency at Rush University Medical Center in 2020. He then went to Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago and completed a one year fellowship in Endourology. His areas of interest include robotic surgery, endoscopic and percutaneous treatment of stone disease, and BPH. He enjoys date nights with his wife, watching football, and playing golf.

- Reconstructive SurgeryDr Perlmutter grew up on Long Island, New York. He majored in biology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Urology at West Virginia University and then completed a Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York. He has a strong interest in treating all Urologic cancers, robotic surgery, reconstructive surgery, stone disease, urinary incontinence, BPH and erectile dysfunction. In his free time, Dr Perlmutter enjoys spending time with his wife, Jen and three children. He is a fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks as well as college football and basketball.
