Located in Meriden, Conn., Hanover Elementary School is an educational campus that enrolls students in kindergarten through grade five. It serves more than 600 children who are taught by a staff of over 50 teachers and paraprofessionals. The school conducts classes in reading, math, science, social studies and English. In addition to academic teachers, its staff includes psychologists, media specialists, guidance counselors, and speech, physical and occupational therapists. Hanover Elementary School also offers a violence prevention program called Second Step that teaches the skills of reducing aggression and increasing social competence to children. The school is a part of Meriden Board of Education, which has an enrollment of nearly 8,500 students and owns and operates several elementary, middle and high schools.
