- About the courseToms River Country Club's Golf Course is manicured and maintained to the wishes of our members. This 9 hole course has 2 sets of tees and plays as an 18 hole golf course. The 9 hole private course features 6,136 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. There are separate tee boxes for the front and back 9 so the course is played as an 18 hole layout. The course rating is 70.5 and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bent grass. The course is one of the finest courses in the State for it's size and the condition of the fairways and greens have long been recognized as superb. The New Jersey Golf Course Superintendents' Association has voted to recognize the Club by holding their annual outing at Toms River for the last 15 consecutive years, which further adds to the high standards the course maintains. The beauty of the golf course is captured by the Par 3, 6th hole, the club's signature golf hole. At first glance, the 170-yard, Par 3 hole may not seem intimidating on the score card. However, as you place your ball on the tee and look out to the island green nestled along Toms River with the wind swirling (at times, a 2-3 club wind), you realize that accuracy is at a premium on this hole. The reward of reaching the green is a panoramic view of the river and the sailboats, which captures all that Toms River has to offer. Ed Walls, head golf professional and PGA member, is on-site to plan and supervise all golf activities. A fully stocked golf shop is open from March through December, 6 or 7 days a week. The latest in clothing and equipment is available in the shop, with many new additions planned this year. Club fitting and club repair are just two of the services the shop offers. Ed also offers golf instruction for players of all abilities. Individual sessions, group lessons and clinics can be tailored to fit each golfer's needs, with a variety of packages offered to fit any budget.
