A Favorite

Good hotdogs and ice cream at reasonable prices. They still carry sugar cones -- and I highly recommend the banana split flavor.

Lexington Market

Wikipedia describes the Lexington Market as showing he personality of the real Baltimore. I could not agree more.

A tourist can eat on the cheap and enjoy real Baltimore food, from steamed crabs to Bergers cookies (shortbread covered with chocolate frosting), from hotdogs to Utz Potato Chips not to mention soul, Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Latin American specialties, plus deli sandwiches, ice cream, fresh fish and meat, fresh produce, salad, candy, roasted peanuts, and Sushi.

At Lexington Market, a working person can still afford a decent breakfast or lunch and find the makings of dinner with just a few bucks in her pocket.

Lexington Market started over 225 years ago to give local farmers a local market for their wares. With land donated by John Eager Howard, the vendors opened shop outdoors at the same location where the market now stands, on Lexington Street, between Eutaw and Greene Streets.

Todays market has all the modern amenities plus the spirit of an open-air six days a week. And it isnt just the good food people come for for many years, the market has sponsored a host of activities for adults and children. The Chocolate Festival, the Crab Derby, and the annual visit from the circus elephants have become Baltimore traditions.
