- Dental ExaminationOur pediatric dentists will take X-rays during your child’s dental exams to view their teeth and supporting structures in detail. These X-rays help our pediatric dental team monitor your child’s development and diagnose any problems which may be developing.
- X-raysDigital X-rays, also known as dental X-rays or digital radiography, are a type of diagnostic imaging technology. Using digital sensors, they capture images of your child’s teeth and supporting oral structures, making it easy for our pediatric dentists to diagnose problems such as cavities, bone or gum loss, gum disease, tumors or developmental abnormalities. They are also helpful for finding unerupted permanent teeth and mapping tooth root structures prior to orthodontic treatment.
- Teeth CleaningDental cleanings play an important role in keeping your child’s smile healthy and free from cavities and other problems. Preventive care, including dental cleanings, is a major focus of our pediatric dentists and team, and we will take special care to provide your child with gentle care so that they can feel at ease as well as a thorough cleaning to boost their oral health.
- Fluoride TreatmentOur pediatric dental team may recommend a fluoride treatment to help protect your child’s teeth from cavities. This simple preventive treatment can help your child keep their teeth strong and healthy as they continue to grow and develop.
- Dental SealantsAs part of your child’s preventive treatment plan, our pediaric dental team will provide them with dental sealants. This simple treatment will reduce their risk of cavities and help your child maintain a healthy smile as they continue to grow and develop.
- Space MaintainersOur pediatric dental team will monitor your child’s oral development, including the eruption and positions of their teeth. This helps ensure that space maintainers can be provided if your child loses their teeth earlier than expected.
- Fillings
- CrownsEven though your child’s baby teeth are temporary, they play a vital role in your child’s smile, oral health and development. As such, they should receive proper care both to prevent problems from developing and to effectively treat damage caused when problems do occur. If the damage is too extensive to be repaired with a filling, our pediatric dentists may recommend a stainless-steel dental crown.
- Restorative DentistryPediatric restorative dentistry is focused on restoring the health and function of your child’s teeth and smile following tooth damage, tooth decay or other problems. Your child’s treatment is designed to meet their unique needs, and we take special care to ensure that they will be comfortable while receiving treatment and that their final result will help them feel confident in how their smile looks and functions. With restorative dentistry, your child can once again eat, speak and smile effortlessly.
- PulpotomyBecause your child’s primary teeth play an important role in their oral growth and development our pediatric dentists will not recommend an extraction unless there is no other option. However, severely damaged teeth still need to receive treatment so your child can regain their oral health and smile. In cases like this, our pediatric dentists may recommend a pulpotomy to save your child’s tooth and help them regain a healthy smile.
- Root Canal TreatmentWe will take special care to ensure that your child remains comfortable throughout their entire procedure. Our pediatric dentists and team understand that “root canals†have a reputation for being uncomfortable, but thanks to advances in modern dentistry we now have the ability to give you child care that is both comfortable and effective.
- Deep CleaningOur pediatric dentists will evaluate your child’s oral health and the severity of the disease before recommending a treatment. Mild cases of gum disease can often be treated with a deep cleaning known as scaling and root planing. Antibiotic treatments may also be recommended. If your child’s condition is more severe, we may recommend a surgical procedure or another type of treatment. We will discuss all options with you so you can make an informed decision about your child’s treatment plan.
- DenturesIf your child’s crown falls off, call and make an appointment as soon as possible. Bring the crown with you. If you are unable to come to our office right away, you can use a cotton swab to apply a little clove oil to the sensitive area (clove oil can be purchased at your local drug store or in the spice isle of the grocery store. If possible, try to slip the crown back over the tooth – you can use over-the-counter dental cement, toothpaste or a denture adhesive to do this. Do NOT use superglue.
