I have used Home Veterinary Service of Northern Virginia for several years for both dogs and cats and they are exceptional! My pets have been seen by Dr Villar, Dr Fontana and Dr Davis and they are all wonderful vets. They are knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. We have done everything from routine care and vaccinations to end of life euthanasia and each has been so much easier on my pets because they are in their home and haven't had a scary drive to a strange place with strangers and strange scents and noises. I highly recommend them!!! Barb T.
Dr. Villar is wonderful. I wish I knew about his business earlier. I had a similar experience as the other poster. We had a nineteen year old cat who was very fearful of the vet's office. When it came time to say goodbye, I didn't want his last memories to be of the vet's office. We made an appointment with Dr. Villar and he came to the house in a mobile vet's office and brought a vet tech along with him. It was a horrible time for me, extremely emotional, but Home Veterinary Care was so kind, caring and sympathetic that it definitely made the best of a bad situation. He handled the whole thing in such a soft, compassionate, quiet and dignified manner and was very considerate to both the cat and to my feelings throughout. They gave me all the time I needed and I never felt rushed in any way. I can't recommend them enough and plan to use them in the future for all our small animal veterinary needs!
THE best veterinarian in the Metro area! You won't find a more caring, knowledgeable and competent vet. We had to get Mollie and Katie spayed, but Katie almost broke her neck trying to get out of the carry kennel, so we knew we couldn't safely get her to a clinic. Dr. Villar came right to our house, took them out front to his surgical van and got it all done. He intubated them and constantly monitored their blood pressure to ensure they were ok (this is when cats can die during surgery). He was so sweet and gentle with them - they were in good hands throughout. A year later, they are doing great!! There are other great mobile vets in the area, but he is the best of the best. He's the only one for us.
My 16.5 yr-old cat had recurrent bladder cancer that metastasized. His last memory would not be the vet office sounds, smells & steel table. I wanted him to cross the Bridge at home on our bed, where he slept every night of his life. I contacted Dr Villar. He came 7-13-06 so they could meet and he'd know his personality. He brushed him, played with him and asked my opinion. I said I knew he would last the weekend for me but not the week. He concurred. Sunday I called to say he would last the night but to come Monday. He told me to have friends here to support us. Meli was on our bed and truly ready. We caressed him; told him how loved he was, and what a good friend he was. He was sedated and we prayed for him. I nodded; he received the lethal dose; took 1 breath, and was gone. Meli was wrapped in a big towel and carried out through our lobby like an infant. Many called to express the love they witnessed. Meli had a good life and a good death. I miss him. Thank you, Dr Villar and Devin
A very caring veterinarian.
