Stayed at Winding River last year in August, went kayaking, had a blast. Sites are nice but sandy which is expected in this area, campground is clean. Will be going again in August this year. Would recommend.

I recently rented a trailer at Winding River Campground. The trailer was spacious and clean. However, there seemed to be some problems with the electricity being too weak in the trailer. The water smelled and the holding tank for hot water wasn't big enough to finish dishes! There are plenty of nearby bathhouses to shower in though. The campground itself is just average - I've been to many much nicer ones. Lastly, the canoe, kayak and tube rentals were extremely expensive! The trip was "okay" for a last-minute thrown together vacation... most likely won't be staying here again.
