Established in 1946, the Township of Hamilton is a municipality located in Mays Landing, N.J. The municipality operates a court, clerk s office and police department. Its police department provides crime prevention and law and traffic enforcement services. It operates a fire prevention bureau that issues fire permits and inspects fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. The Township of Hamilton includes planning and recreation advisory boards, environmental and historic preservation commissions, and emergency management and disaster control advisory councils. The municipality also collects library, health, district school and open space taxes. Its public works department maintains streets, roads, parks, buildings, grounds and recreational areas. In addition, the municipality organizes social activities and community-based programs. The Township of Hamilton serves more than 20,000 residents.
