I had never had a problem shopping here before, but not too long ago, my fianc and I went in to shop. He had his hoodie up, as did other people in the store. We decided to start at the very end of the store and work our way down. As we were shopping, there was an employee mopping the floors. After strolling through a few aisles, we noticed we were being followed. So, we decided to cut through some aisles, and headed back to the first aisle we started in to investigate further. Upon doing so, the employee proceeded to follow us. So, I asked her if she was following us, and she told us she was just spot mopping. I knew better. We continued to shop around the store, and she still continued to follow us. She violated my personal space to pick up the smallest piece of trash she could find. Enough was enough! We proceeded to go to the manager with our complaint, and he had admitted that there were 2 people following us. His justification? We were being followed based on what we were wearing. Are you serious? I don't know about you, but when I go to shop somewhere, I don't like being stalked throughout the store based on some stupid stereotype. If you do decide to go shop here, don't wear your hoodie up and don't wear loose clothing. They'll harass you until you leave.

this will be my 3rd mo. at traderbakers. love doing the fleamarket, so far I have done well. its also fun to shop at the other booths, theres a little bit of everything there and the employers have been very nice and helpful.
I only have one problem with the Traderbakers at Martinsville. I would love to advertise my booth in facebook and newspaper ads. It would improve my sales as well as draw more customers into the store for their benefit. Problem is they do not have the rows and booths numbered so that people can find you even if you do advertise. Other flea markets number their rows A-Z and the booth numbers 1-100. If I were to send someone to booth J-18 they would know exactly how to find me. However the current booth numbers are meaningless and are actually vendor numbers, not booth numbers. It would be very easy for them to use the current booth numbers as vendor numbers and number their rows and booths in a meaningful way. It really bugs me that I can't advertise my booths space.

Great store - especially with the new location. Check out the computer booth! Lots of great deals!
I love having a booth in Martinsville. Rent is very fair and sales are good year round. Great selection of items. Antiques, vintage, new, used and repurposed. I love looking around this store. Sort of like American Pickers. Check it out and look for Booth #21. Lots of Primitive furniture, antiques, old windows, hand painted barn wood signs, old barn gates, cookie jars, western collectibles. Sometime even saddles. You won't be disappointed!

Traderbakers Martinsville is a treasure trove. You never know what you will find. $135 for booth rent is nothing. That's just a little over $33.00 a week for someone else to sell your stuff, collect the sales tax, open and close the store, keep the store comfortable (heat and air conditioning) and clean, and if you can't sell more than $33 a week maybe you need to be in another business.

I've had very good luck here. You get a surprisingly diverse group of customers from lots of places all over, not just Martinsville.

The booth rent really isn't unreasonable because most flea markets charge you for your booth rent...plus take a commission...but at Traderbakers, they only charge you the rent...On top of all of that they take care of the taxes...building...utilities...employees and so on... That is cheaper than renting a building and opening up a store of your own...

I don't think the booth rent is terribly unreasonable. It's $130/month. Enough people seem to do well enough with it.

This is a good store, but they charge too much money to the people who rent booths there. It is great that they have a furniture consignment room. I love the furniture choices in there. I tell people about the place all the time. But really they need to take it easy on the people who rent booths there. If it wasn't for them Traderbaker's would not even be in business. The booths are so small. The cost to rent a booth there should be no more than $100.00 per month.
