Established in 1961, Contra Costa County Counsel serves as a civil legal advisor. Based in Martinez, Calif., the county counsel is the attorney for the county, including the board of supervisors and certain special districts. Additionally, it is a public law office focused in a diverse civil practice. Costa County Counsel operates a number of divisions, such as general litigation, civil litigation and juvenile dependency division, to name a few. The county serves offices, departments, boards, commissions, schools and other public entities in the County.
