- Commercial Pest ControlPublic Health regulations regarding pests are becoming increasingly strict, and rightly so. Pests cause all manner of problems, not just for your customers, but for your business in terms of wastage, lost revenue, and damaged reputation.
- AntsAnts have three sections to their bodies (the head, thorax and abdomen), each separated by a very narrow waist. They have a pale coloured abdomen with a dark thorax and head. The most common ant species to be found in homes is the black garden ant. However, ghost ants are becoming more common in heated buildings.
- FleasCat fleas are the most common flea species. Human and bird fleas are the next two most prevalent types. Dog fleas are rare, but other flea species may attach to dogs temporarily.
- CockroachesCockroaches are commonly found in commercial buildings where food is being handled. They are also found in public buildings and homes, especially apartment blocks. They particularly like buildings with service ducts, plumbing and pipes.
- BeesThese buzzing, winged insects with yellow and black striped bodies are a familiar sight across the UK. Unlike bees, their bodies have a waist and they are around 10-15mm long. One wasp nest may produce 30,000 wasps each year.
- WaspsA wasp sting can be very painful. Some people also have a violent allergic reaction to wasp stings, with several people dying each year as a result. Wasps are most likely to sting in August and September when the sweet food they prefer is available.
- FliesThere are a wide variety of flies including blowflies, cluster flies, and of course the common housefly. As a family of winged polluters, they are too readily tolerated, without people realising or understanding the potential effects and the problems that they create.
- BeetlesPlaster beetles are attracted to new or newly refurbished properties, where the plaster is still damp. They also favour damp plaster in older buildings. These almost black tiny crawling beetles are around 2 mm long.

- BirdsThe pigeon is the most serious bird pest associated with human habitations. We carry out more bird control, associated with pigeons, than any other bird. They’re approximately 31 to 34cm long and usually a blue-grey colour, with two black bars across the wing and a purple-green gloss on the neck and upper breast. However, there can be many variations in colour.
- PigeonsPigeons can be a serious nuisance. They’re capable of transmitting diseases, contaminating your food and damaging your buildings. When many gather together, they can be very noisy too.

- MiceHouse mice, and sometimes long-tailed field mice, seek out the warmth and shelter of buildings for nesting and finding food. You can usually tell when mice have paid you a visit because they’ll leave dark coloured droppings or cause damage to food stores, packaging and woodwork.
- RatsBrown rats are more common than black rats and stay near ground level. Black rats are more often found in seaport towns and are more agile, often entering buildings by the upper floors.
- SquirrelsGrey squirrels are very intelligent and adapt easily to their environment and the food available. However, they shouldn’t be confused with Britain’s native red squirrels which are becoming increasingly rare and are protected.
