The Telecommunications Department provides telephone and two-way radio communication services to the Parish of Jefferson s government offices and agencies. It offers telephone support services in life threatening and medical emergencies, crime in progress and fire accidents. The department operates the 9-1-1 Center, which provides telephone assistance in life threatening situations, including in-progress assaults, burglaries, severe blood loss, breathing problems, accidents and injuries and people trapped in fire situations. Its 9-1-1 system is capable of receiving a wireless caller's cell phone number. The department is also responsible for the 9-1-1 Center's physical plant and operational works. The Telecommunications Department is located in Marrero, La.
