General Info
Core Essentials is a personal training company that is owned & operated by a licensed physical therapist assistant. The owner is also an exercise physiologist & certified by the ACSM. Each client is assessed prior to starting a fitness program. The screening assesses posture which is designed to detect orthopedic issues that can potentially be a deterrent to the individual.The exercises are specific to the needs of the individual & usually involve movement patterns rather than isolating any given muscle. This type of exercise burns more calories & mimics movements of real life activities/sport. We will go to your gym or home. We can work with post rehab patients, breast cancer survivors, post rehab stroke patients, athletes, senior citizens, bodybuilders, overweight individuals,and those who just want to get in shape. Core Essentials is affiliated with a Registered Dietitian and strongly advises overweight individuals to seek these services as an adjunct to personal training.

The reviewers that preceded me captured Mike's specialness extremely well. Like they said, he is caring, educated, flexible with his clients, creative in his approach, and is there for you even after you've left the gym. A week never goes by when Mike doesn't leave me a text, e-mail, or phone call asking how I feel following our workout. He truly is concerned and wants you to succeed. If I miss a workout (or more) with Mike, he calls to keep me motivated, never making me feel guilty for having missed a session. If I ask Mike a question that he doesn't know the answer to, he will research it thoroughly, making sure I get the latest info on that topic. His own curiosity keeps him fresh, learning new stuff, and on top of the latest thinking in health and wellness. Being 62 years old and diabetic for 12 years, I needed a special kind of person to work with me to maintain my health and achieve my goals (strength, balance, flexibility, nutrition, weight control). Mike fits the bill.

I have been working with Mike for the last 6 years. I started working with him because of re-occurring lower back issues. Most recently we have been focusing on strengthening my shoulders and core. Mike's program was so successful that I was able to avoid shoulder surgery! Mike is the consummate professional-customer focused and results oriented. I would highly recommend Mike Sylvester's personal training services to clients that are looking for a trainer that will work with you to achieve the desired results in spite of physical limitations.
I heard about Mike Sylvester though a friend of mine who loved his training.I am very impressed with Mike about how much commitment & devotion he has.There were many instances he spent extra time working and training with me, exceeding my expectations.His multiple emails trying to keep in touch and motivating with his great education materials, CDs, Book, Video, website, proves how complete his Program is for his clients.It has been less than a month since I started working with him, and I feel much more energized and motivated, I look forward to reaching my goal.
Eleven years ago I had emergency back surgery. Following the surgery I had off and on bouts of back pain. During one of my physical therapy sessions 4 years ago, I was told about Mike and his program. I started working with Mike after being released from physical therapy and continue to work with him. I have not needed physical therapy for my back since starting with Mike. As well as strengthening my core and therefore strengthening my back, I have become stronger and have more stamina then every. Oh yah, the added bonus was loosing 30 lbs!!! I highly recommend Mike Sylvester and his program to anyone that is looking for a way to become stronger, toned and more healthy.
I had always avoided gyms, thinking they were for sweaty muscle men, not women like me. But I realized that I needed to work out, and I wasn't about to do it at home, so I joined a gym. By sheer luck I ended up with Mike Sylvester as my trainer. Since working out with Mike I am stronger, have better balance and more energy. A back injury which had plagued me for years hardly bothers me anymore. I feel good. Friends have commented on the positive changes in me and on how good I look. As a result, some of them have started working out with Mike too. What's different about him from other trainers is that he has a background in physical therapy, so he can better gear the exercises to what each person's body needs. What's special about Mike and what helps me stay motivated is that he varies the exercises to keep it interesting, he never criticizes, and is totally supportive.
