My daughter is a student at Marlboro and she just loves it. It was rated #1 for academic rigor -- topping every other college and university in the US by the Princeton review. There is a reason for this: much is expected of the students and they work very, very hard. A great majority attend graduate school, and it is a great preparation for this. Students who do not wish to spend long, hard hours on their schoolwork often do drop out. There are only about 300 students on a campus with over 300 beautiful acres. It is rather isolated in the Green Mountains of Vermont, but easy access via school van or local free bus is had to the city of Brattleboro, Vermont, a very artsy, small, upscale city, rated as one of the best artsy cities in the US. Students at Marlboro must write a thesis - similar to a master's degree thesis their senior year, which is reviewed and graded by professors from other colleges, often Ivy League. This is a great addition to grad school applications.
