The Marco Island Police Department prevents, detects and investigates crimes, as well as suppresses criminal activity and apprehends law offenders. The department has a crime prevention unit that maintains constant communication with the community through surveys, public forums, radio and other service groups. Its investigative services section responds to the investigations of homicide, robbery, sexual assaults, child abuse, domestic violence, and animal neglect. The department maintains a marine unit that offers free vessel security surveys to prevent theft. In addition, it operates a communication center that provides emergency and nonemergency information and communication services to various local, state and federal agencies.
