Since 1980, Dr. Remis has been practicing ophthalmology full-time in Marblehead MA. He specializes in treating cataracts and glaucoma and brings extensive experience treating eye disorders, such as dry eye syndrome and diabetic retinopathy to the North Shore. Dr. Remis performs surgery at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem MA.
- Macular DegenerationAs part of the natural aging process the macula can deteriorate and breakdown. The macula is the part of the eye responsible for central and detail vision. Those with age-related macular degeneration experience blurry, dark, and distorted central vision.

Diseases such as diabetes and herpes zoster are associated with decreased corneal sensation. So is long-term contact lens wear and surgery that involves making incisions in or removing tissue from the cornea (such as LASIK).
