South Orange - Maplewood Public Schools serve the educational needs of more than 6,300 students in grades kindergarten through 12. Located in Maplewood, N.J., the school district offers a variety of educational, enrichment and extracurricular programs for its students. It governs more than 10 elementary, middle and high schools throughout South Orange and Maplewood, N.J. Its curriculum includes English, language art, social studies, science and technology, business studies, health education, mathematics, computer science, fine arts, music, and physical education. Its department of special services provides educational services to students with learning disabilities having special needs. The department offers programs, such as preschool handicapped, multiple handicapped, integrated kindergarten, learning disabled, autistic, and resource programs and classes for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed. The school district publishes a newsletter that includes information on various upcoming activities and events of the district.
