Established in 1903 as the Card Electric Company, Ideal Electric now manufactures a variety of rotating equipment and controls for use in medium-power generators for gas, steam and hydro turbines, as well as diesel engines. Its products include synchronous and induction generators, synchronous and induction motors and complete switchgear and control packages. The company serves primarily clients in the generator and motor markets. Nearly 35 percent of its products are shipped overseas. The company also provides services such as startup assistance, equipment inspection, testing and analysis, planned preventive maintenance and on-site relay calibration. Ideal Electric has headquarters in Mansfield, Ohio, where it also maintains a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that is certified according to ISO 9001 standards.
