General Info
Philosophy It is the philosophy of this program that recovery from mental illness is possible, and that people with psychiatric disabilities can lead normal and productive lives when provided with appropriate support and services. The service delivery model is child centered, family focused, community based and culturally competent, using multi-system planning and providing services in the least restrictive, least intrusive manner. Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (MHR) are defined as services which are medically necessary and can reasonably be expected to reduce one’s disability from mental illness and to restore the individual to his/her best possible functional level in the community. The services are provided outside of a mental institution (or distinct part of a psychiatric unit) on an as-needed basis to assist clients in coping with the symptoms of their illness, minimizing the disabling effects of mental illness on their capacity for independent living, and preventing or limiting periods of inpatient treatment.
