Established in 1868 as County Farm and Hospital, the Manistee County Medical Care Facility is a nonprofit skilled care services provider. It offers a variety of services related to health care, human relations, skilled nursing and rehabilitation. The center maintains 122-bed facility for various community-based services, including rehabilitative therapies and programs and specialized care. The Manistee County Medical Care Facility has a staff of more than 150 individuals that include physicians, nurses, aides, physical therapists, social workers, and plant maintenance and laundry services providers, as well as a group of volunteers.
