Dr. Guetter is professional, intelligent, polite and a very good listener. He is well educated. However, I had a very bad experience with him. He had a horrible knack for saying the wrong things at the wrong time in the wrong way. He embodies an ethos I find in central PA of see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. It is an ethos that values respect for peoples feelings over respect for their humanity. I felt dehumanized in his therapy. My feelings were important, as were those of my wife; my humanity was not. He hides behind a neutral facade of science, when in fact he embraces a very specific value system that may or may not fit well with the client. It fit horribly with me. My experience with him was far and away the worst experience I have ever had with a therapist. This is probably to a large extent a function of who I am. I could imagine that others might have a good experience with him, which is why I gave him 3 stars.
