Working as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner allows her to combine her passion for the care of children and her dedication to science. Alena is a Board Certified Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She values primary care because of the ability to form long-lasting relationships with patients and their caregivers. She has enjoyed working in primary care at Nationwide Children's Hospital since her graduation. Alena's interests outside of pediatrics include indoor cycling, walking outdoors, reading, and international travel. She looks forward to establishing herself in Northern Virginia long-term!

Following her passion for the medical field, she chose to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing. After completing her studies, she worked as a critical care registered nurse in the adult acute care unit in Virginia Beach. While working toward her masters of nursing as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PCPNP), Madison worked in a pediatric multi- specialty unit in New Mexico which included ear, nose and throat; endocrinology; chronic care; gastroenterology; and surgery. This experience provided her with a comprehensive understanding of children’s various needs and care. She completed her masters of nursing in the area Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Old Dominion University.
