Derecktor Shipyards craftsmen and laborers transform aluminum, steel, wood, fiberglass, titanium and high-tech composites into custom sailing and motor yachts, high-speed ferries and workboats. The company has become one of the leaders in aluminum boat production in the United States and a leader in yacht and commercial construction, service, repair and refit worldwide. It operates from facilities located in Mamaroneck, N.Y., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Bridgeport, Conn. Starting with one small waterfront shop and a handful of men, Robert E. Derecktor established Derecktor Shipyards in Mamaroneck in 1947. The Mamaroneck facility was established for the construction and repair of custom yachts. It expanded to include the construction and maintenance of all types of pleasure, military and commercial crafts as well as racing yachts.
