Founded in 2004, Porchlight is a nonprofit, volunteer-intensive agency that provides emergency shelter and low-cost housing through Community Housing & Services and Transitional Housing in Dane County, Wis. The agency also comprises of an emergency shelter for men, Safe Haven, which offers housing and intensive services for men and women suffering from serious mental illnesses. Its emergency shelter features more than 170 single rooms and efficiencies and over 55 family units. Porchlight also offers nearly 230 units of housing to families and individuals on a transitional or permanent basis through several housing programs that are designed to address the needs of clients. In addition, the agency provides several case management services, including assistance with budgeting, apartment maintenance and employment training skills to each resident. Porchlight is located in Madison, Wis.
