Bought a lizard that died three weeks later. They promised to have a new one shipped to the store and they would call me when it came in. Today their shipment came in, it was promised to be there- and I still have no lizard and they said it will be another week until next shipment, and MAYBE there might be a lizard in that shipment.

i went in because my 1 year old puppy barks when i leave my apartment and i needed some method to keep her quiet for my neighbors. I had mixed emotions as to their selling method: the salesperson told me the ultrasonic bark control device was the most returned item, and the buyers go instead for the expensive version of the shock collar. In a sense i thought it was harsh to straight out recommend the shock collar for the puppy, but at the same time i appreciated her honesty about the effectiveness of the one i wanted to buy. i bought the ultrasonic, and sure enough, i returned it.
I bought a coat for my dog on sale on a Sunday. It was a little too big, so I took it in on the following Tuesday to exchange it. The coat had since gone off sale, so they wanted to charge me full price for it instead of exchanging it evenly. I have not found any other stores in town that have this policy. They consider an exchange an extension of the original purchase. I will not shop at this store again. (The clerks were also not knowledgeable about their own computer system and were incredibly rude.)
Pet World does not care about animals the way they should. I have seen Chinchillas unproperly cared for on two occasions, one time a Chin was much too hot and the employee I told did nothing about this, and the other time the Chin had NO WHEEL in the cage, and both Chins have no levels to jump on, which is essential to Chin life. The most disturbing problem I have had with Pet World is that they refused to let me post a sign trying to find homes for rescued stray kittens because they SELL KITTENS FROM BREEDERS! My advice, buy from someone who really cares about animal welfare, try Mounds, PetSmart, or Animart, all of which were very friendly and receptive to rescuing cats rather than breeding them for money.
