Miroslav Peev is a double board-certified surgeon (American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery) and is practicing all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cologne in Germany and subsequently completed an internship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Peev graduated general surgery residency from the New York University Langone Medical Center, where he also received the Department of Surgery Award for Outstanding Research by a House Officer.After residency, Dr. Peev went on to complete his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Chicago, under the mentorship of Dr. Val Jeevanandam and Dr. Sam Balkhy.Dr. Peev specializes in the treatment of coronary artery disease, heart valve disorders, atrial fibrillation, aortic surgery and other cardiac diseases, using less invasive techniques in order to reduce pain, blood loss, disability and recovery time.In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Peev is also a prolific researcher and has completed postdoctoral research fellowships at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA and New York - Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, NY. He is also a clinical assistant professor.Dr. Peev's research focuses on innovation and development of advanced technologies for heart surgery. He has co-authored more than 35 peer-reviewed articles, contributed multiple chapters in several textbooks, developed patented prototypes, and regularly presents his research findings at national and international conferences.When he is not working, Dr. Peev enjoys spending time with family and friends. Dr. Peev is a husband, father of twins, a passionate snowboarder and avid cyclist.
