      Located in Madison, Wis., the City of Madison Fire Department protects more than 70 square miles of space. Operational since 1856, the department employs over 300 individuals in 12 fire stations. Its firefighters and rescue professionals work in assistance with advanced life support ambulances and ladder companies. The City of Madison Fire Department operates several specialized units to respond to hazardous material incidents. It also has specialty teams to overcome high confined space rescue situations. In addition, the City of Madison Fire Department operates fire protection engineering, fire inspection and the community education units. The department offers assistance to provide basic life support during emergency incidents.
