- Dental ExaminationFor your child’s first visit to Children’s Dental Center of Madison, we like to do a comprehensive examination. This includes looking at your child’s teeth along with the supporting structures of the gums. The dentist will also address your child’s oral hygiene, as well as clean your child’s teeth. We will look at your child’s bite and will only take X-rays if necessary. This is the optimal time to ask questions about your child’s mouth and teeth.
- X-raysDental X-Rays are very safe and the amount of radiation from dental X-Rays is very small. Today’s equipment filters out unnecessary x-rays and restricts the x-ray beam to the area of interest. Dental X-Rays are designed to limit the body’s exposure. Pediatric dentists are incredibly careful to minimize the exposure of their patients to radiation. Dental radiographs represent a far smaller risk than an undetected and untreated dental problem.

- Dental SealantsDental sealants work to prevent cavities by sealing pits and fissures that naturally occur in molars. Sealants “seal off” the pit and fissure of your molars to prevent food and plaque from collecting and forming cavities.
- CrownsKnocked Out Permanent Tooth: Once you locate the tooth, try to only touch the crown (the surface opposite of the root). Rinse the tooth with water but DO NOT clean the tooth soap. Look at the tooth and try to determine if there are any fractures. If it is solid, try putting it back into the socket. Have the child hold the tooth in place by biting on a clean cloth or gauze. If the tooth will not fit back in their mouth, place it in a cup of the patient’s saliva or milk, NOT water. If the child is old enough to not swallow the tooth, they can transport the tooth in their mouth (beside the cheek). Call your dentist IMMEDIATELY! Time is a major factor in saving the tooth.

- Oral SurgeryI just wanted to share how much we appreciate all of the staff at this office. Each visit is a positive experience...every time. All three of our children love going to the dentist! Also very important to us... We have a bonus kid living in our home... For all 4 of his appointments... including his oral surgery, each staff member we encountered knew the proper names to call us... remembering that we are not his mom and dad. Even more, are extremely encouraging and appropriate when talking to us regarding his situation. This means the world to us as we care for this child. Thank you so very much.
