The Dane County Sheriff s Office has more than 400 sworn officers and over 100 nonsworn support staff. It enforces laws and protects life and property in Dane County, Wis. The office operates security, executive, field and support services divisions. In addition, the Dane County Sheriff s Office operates various specialty units, including a bomb squad and honor guard, crowd control, rescue and hostage negotiations teams. Its motorist patrol offers roadside assistance in cases of traffic accidents. In addition, the office operates an executive services division that is responsible for employee-related issues, including recruitment, background investigations, hiring, training, scheduling, payroll, benefits, promotions, resignations and retirements.
