He graduated from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Dental School in 1992 and UT Southwestern Medical School in 1996. He is board certified and a professional member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Texas Dental Society, American Sleep Apnea Association, Southwest Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, East Texas Dental Society and Piney Woods Dental Study Club. He specializes in dental implant surgery, oral and facial pathology, facial skin cancer surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, facial cosmetic procedures and TMJ treatment. Dr. Tate has developed lasting relationships with many of the dentists in Nacogdoches, Lufkin and surrounding areas. He is able to work closely with them to accomplish restoration of patients teeth and jaws, resulting in excellent function and beautiful smiles. Dr. Tate has lived in Nacogdoches since 1999 with his wife Andrea and they have raised three sons, Travis, Connor and Jackson. He is an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and has been a leader of the local Trail Life USA scouting troop since it’s start in 2014.

I had never had a sedation tooth extraction, but to have 3 at once was a little unnerving. Dr Tate started my IV and I never felt a thing, he was so good. The last thing I remember was him laying my hand over on my lap and telling me I could bend my arm if needed, which I don't guess I did, I don't remember anything else until he was through and telling me to step down from the chair. Sedation is definitely the way to go.
Doctor Tate was new to me and in the time I was visiting his office I saw that his staff was very wonderful, and kind. They all like what they do and he truly takes time to make sure every patient is taken care of, not to mention the wait time is pretty minimal.
Everything from my first visit, to the extraction of my wisdom tooth and the follow-up visit was comfortable and of the highest quality. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and Dr. Tate is very thorough, knowledgeable, and skilled..He took plenty of time to answer my questions. I never experienced any pain at all after my procedure. Dr. Tate contacted me the day after my surgery to see if everything was going well, and to make sure I had their contact info if I needed them over the weekend. I highly recommend Dr. Tate!
