My wife and her friends love this place, though I find it to be standard fare. The food, though tasty, is standard cafe food, including soups, salads and sandwiches. The bakery is very good, but nothing that really stands out from other bakeries. The setting is a strange hodgepodge of random unmatched tables and chairs, though the dinning area is roomy. The service is standard, and the prices are good. All in all, Chef John's is a very sturdy lunch spot.
