- CryotherapyClariFix® is an FDA approved, clinically-proven, minimally invasive cryotherapy tool that uses a cooling probe to freeze a small, inflamed area in the back of the nose. By freezing this tissue, ClariFix® helps relieve inflammation and interrupts the signals from the out-of-balance nerves that are causing your symptoms.
- SinusitisBalloon Sinus Dilation is a new surgical procedure that can be performed in an office setting for treatment of chronic sinusitis. It is a quick, safe and minimally invasive procedure, performed under local anesthesia. A small balloon is inserted into the nose using an endoscope and video camera. The balloon is then inflated to dilate and open the sinus pathway and allow for better drainage from the sinus cavity. The recovery period is generally 1-2 days and is appropriate for patients with chronic sinus symptoms who have not responded well to treatment with medications like antibiotics, allergy medications or nasal steroid sprays. It differs from traditional functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), which is usually performed in an outpatient surgery center setting and involves general anesthesia. Balloon procedures can often be done in conjunction with other nasal/sinus procedures such as a septoplasty, turbinate resection or polypectomy.
- Ear Infections1. Otitis externa, or outer ear infection, are infections and/or inflammation of the outer ear, which is the ear canal to the tympanic membrane.

- Kidney StonesHyperparathyroidism, or overactivity of the parathyroid gland, involves an overproduction of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Although not a cancerous condition, hyperparathyroidism is often caused by a tumor on the parathyroid gland, known as an adenoma, which enlarges the specific gland and forces it to continuously secrete PTH. Most people with hyperparathyroidism have only one enlarged gland, but others can have all four affected by the condition. Common symptoms of hyperparathyroidism can include: increased thirst and urination, kidney stones, osteoporosis, weakness, fatigue and depression, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and constipation, impaired thinking and loss of memory, heartburn and high blood pressure.

- Hypothyroidism-Hypothyroidism: an underactive thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone to maintain normal body function. Causes of hypothyroidism include Hashimoto disease, thyroidectomy, thyroiditis, medications, too much/too little iodine, etc.
- ThyroidHyperthyroidism: an overactive thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone in the body. Causes of hyperthyroidism include Graves disease, nodules, goiters, thyroiditis
- NeurosurgeryIn his current practice, Dr. Scolaro treats a broad range of patients across all age groups for problems such as ear infections, chronic tonsillitis, septal deviations, sinus disease, obstructive sleep apnea, vocal cord dysfunction, and cancers of the head, neck and mouth. He is especially skilled in thyroid and parathyroid surgeries and is adept at assisting in neurosurgery for the resection of transsphenoidal tumors. He also has a strong interest in office-based sinus balloon dilation surgery. Dr. Scolaro is proud to serve as the current Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Covenant Medical Center and as the Medical Director for Covenant High Plains Surgery Center campuses.
- OtolaryngologyPrior to practicing in Lubbock, Dr. Scolaro received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin before completing his medical degree and residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Scolaro is licensed to practice in the state of Texas and is a board-certified member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, a member of the Texas Medical Board and Covenant Health Partners.
- BotoxBotox is an injectable medication that temporarily immobilizes muscles by blocking local nerve signals. By targeting select muscle groups, experienced physicians can use Botox injections to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, which are caused by muscle movement.
- LesionsAnother vocal cord condition is polyps. Polyps can take a number of forms and are usually benign, appearing as swelling, a bump or a nodule (additional evaluation may be required to determine if other types of throat lesions are cancerous). They are sometimes caused by vocal abuse. Polyps appear on either one or both of the vocal cords.
- Sports MedicineA nasal fracture, commonly referred to as a broken nose, is a fracture of the bone or cartilage of the nose. Nasal fractures are caused by physical trauma to the face which can include sports injuries, fighting, falls, and car accidents. Symptoms of a broken nose include bruising, swelling, tenderness, pain, deformity, and/or bleeding of the nose. The patient may have difficulty breathing, or nosebleeds. Minor fractures may heal on their own. More serious fractures may require surgical repair.
