Farmers Cooperative Compress is a member-owned cooperative, located in Lubbock, Texas, held by more than 10,000 cotton farmers and landowners. Cotton growers throughout the region have organized 65 cooperatively-owned gins that deliver baled cotton to Farmers Cooperative for storage and distribution to markets throughout the world. In the past five years the Lubbock and Plainview plants together have averaged more than 1.5 million bales each year. Farmers Cooperative Compress is located in the middle of the largest cotton-growing region in the world. Farmers Cooperative Compress merged with Plainview Cooperative Compress, in 1997, and operates 115 warehouses in Lubbock with a storage capacity of more than 1 million bales of cotton and 34 warehouses in Plainview, Texas, storing more than 300,000 bales. Local cotton farmers established Farmers Cooperative Compress in 1948.
