Established in 1853, the YMCA of Greater Louisville was founded and chartered as a membership organization. Located in Louisville, Ky., it is a nonprofit, community-based health care and human services organization. It provides community services and aftercare support for teenagers and families who want to resolve and prevent difficulties within the community, schools and homes. The YMCA of Greater Louisville offers individual, group and family counseling services and support groups for parents and youths who aim to improve family relationships. The organization provides mentoring and child care services. It supports personal fitness, youth certification and street outreach programs. The YMCA of Greater Louisville operates a teenager leaders club and center. The organization conducts sports activities, including baseball, T-ball, softball, soccer, volleyball, football and hockey.
