Founded in 1896, Neighborhood House is a community-based organization that serves economically disadvantaged individuals in the Portland area in Kentucky. The organization offers a range of cultural enrichment and health promotion programs for children, adults and senior citizens. It also provides several types of educational enhancement and vocational training services. Neighborhood House offers supplemental school programs for children. The organization s daily activities include a selection of recreational and cultural programs. Its youth development programs feature conflict resolution, violence prevention and substance abuse treatment services. Neighborhood House offers intergenerational activities for individuals with emotional, physical and mental disabilities. Additionally, the organization s emergency food bank provides assistance to more than 400 families each month.
