Swedish Massage The most familiar form of massage, Swedish massage is typically preformed with the client disrobed but draped so that only the areas being massaged are exposed. The client's privacy is always respected and no areas are exposed for work without the client's consent. Massage oils are applied to the skin and areas are worked with the intent to increase circulation, relax the client and increase the clients flexibility and reduce muscle tension. Trigger Point Therapy When excess muscle tension creates localized "knots" in the tissues, trigger points are formed. Trigger points are essentially tight bands within muscle tissue that typically refer sensations to other parts of the body. A common occurring example would be when trigger points in the upper back and/or top of the shoulders create tension patterns that help to create neck pain and/or headaches. Trigger point activity is common in many chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes. Reducing trigger point activity is very effective at reducing pain and normalizing tone and flexibility. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (CST) Biodynamic CST is a specific way of working with the fluids of the craniosacral system to create health and improve function in the bones, tissues, diaphragms and joints of the body. Deeply relaxing and rejuvenating for the nervous system, it is also corrective for a wide-range of stress disorders. Performed with the client fully clothed and without the use of oils. Zero Balancing (ZB) A wellness enhancing therapy that works at the body-mind level to improve the flow of energy through the bones, joints and the tissues of the body. ZB is a multidimensional therapy effecting change at many levels in a person's life. Effective with stress disorders and any physical and especially joint related problems, ZB works at the interface of structure and energy to create balance in the body. ZB is typically done with the client fully clothed and without the use of oils. Myofascial Therapy )MFT) Specific to the connective tissue element known as fascia, which is a shrink-wrap type of material that envelopes each individual muscle and organ in the body, MFT utilizes a deep stretching type of massage without the use of excessive oils. Effective in restoring normal muscle length and tone and in correcting and improving postural patterns. Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) A specific application of massage therapy applied to areas of injury and/or excessive muscle tone, NMT is extremely effective at reducing pain, restoring normal muscle tone/flexibility and providing conditions conductive to healing at sites of localized tissue injury. Maternity Massage Massage specific to the needs and condition of pregnancy and post-pregnancy including high=risk pregnancy situations and massages after a cesarean birth. Special emphasis is placed on positions appropriate for each trimester of pregnancy as well as addressing postural changes due to pregnancy.
