The Municipal Sports Section provides sports programs for adults in Los Angeles. Its sports activities include baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football, softball, volleyball and tennis. The section organizes group and individual competitions and tournaments for men and women. The Municipal Sports Section s capabilities include league formation and administration, facility assignment and official training. It also distributes assignments and awards. In addition, the section issues short-and long-term permits for various athletic fields. The Municipal Sports Section is a part of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, which offers a range of recreational programs and maintains parks, beaches, mountain trails, campgrounds and historical sites.
