The bank opened for business in 1962 with the mission of providing financial services to the Chinese-American community in the Los Angeles area. It offers a range of financial services for personal banking, small business banking, commercial banking and wealth management. Cathay Bank operates nearly 30 branches in California, along with branches in New York, Massachusetts, Washington and Texas. It also has representative offices in Taipei, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
