• Dental Examination
  Four out of five people have periodontal disease and don't know it! Most people are not aware of it because the disease is usually painless in the early stages. Unlike tooth decay, which often causes discomfort, it is possible to have periodontal disease without noticeable symptoms. Having regular dental check-ups and periodontal examinations are very important and will help detect if periodontal problems exist.
• X-rays
  Digital radiography (digital x-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental x-rays. Not only does Z Dental Group use digital x-rays for our patient’s safety, but also to better diagnose dental disease. With digital x-rays we can blow up your radiographs on our in office computers and find “cavities” before they turn into bigger problems. This also allows us to better educate our patients on their current dental situation.
• Oral Cancer Screening
  Oral cancer is a subtype of head and neck cancer, is any cancerous tissue growth located in the oral cavity. It may arise as a primary lesion originating in any of the oral tissues, by metastasis from a distant site of origin, or by extension from a neighboring anatomic structure, such as the nasal cavity or the Oral cancers may originate in any of the tissues of the mouth, and may be of varied histologic types: teratoma, adenocarcinoma derived from a major or minor salivary gland, lymphoma from tonsillar or other lymphoid tissue, or melanoma from the pigment-producing cells of the oral mucosa. There are several types of oral cancers, but around 90% are squamous cell carcinomas, originating in the tissues that line the mouth and lips. Oral or mouth cancer most commonly involves the tongue. It may also occur on the floor of the mouth, cheek lining, gingiva (gums), lips, or palate (roof of the mouth). Most oral cancers look very similar under the microscope and are called squamous cell carcinoma. These are malignant and tend to spread rapidly.

Preventive

• Teeth Cleaning
  Teeth cleaning: (prophylaxis) by a dentist removes tartar (mineralized plaque) that may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult to reach in routine toothbrushing. Professional cleaning includes tooth scaling and tooth polishing and debridement if too much tartar has accumulated. This involves the use of various instruments or devices to loosen and remove deposits from the teeth.
• Fluoride Treatment
  TEETH CLEANING/POLISHING: Teeth cleaning or Prophylaxis is recommended to be performed every 3 months for optimum oral hygiene. Fluoride treatments and sealant are available as well.

Onlays also help to conserve more tooth structure because their use requires minimal removal a tooth's surface. Perhaps their most important benefit, however, is that, in saving damaged teeth, onlays help patients avoid the eventual need for more extensive treatment with dental crowns, dental bridges, or dental implants.

  BONDING: Dental Bonding is a minimally invasive way of repairing fractured teeth or slightly changing the look of your existing teeth that requires little or no preparing of the teeth.

Endodontics

• Pulpotomy
  At this first visit, the Los Angeles dentist must ensure that the patient is not biting into the tooth, which could also trigger pain. Sometimes the dentist performs preliminary treatment of the tooth by removing all of the infected pulp of the tooth and applying a dressing and temporary filling to the tooth. This is called a pulpectomy. The dentist may also remove just the coronal portion of the dental pulp, which contains 90% of the nerve tissue, and leave intact the pulp in the canals. This procedure, called a "pulpotomy", tends to essentially eliminate all the pain. A pulpotomy may be a relatively definitive treatment for infected primary teeth. The pulpectomy and pulpotomy procedures eliminate almost all pain until the follow-up visit for finishing the root canal. But if the pain returns, it means any of three things: the patient is biting into the tooth, there is still a significant amount of sensitive nerve material left in the tooth, or there is still more pus building up inside and around the infected tooth; all of these cause pain.
• Root Canal Treatment
  Root Canal Treatment or Endodontic therapy is a sequence of treatment for the pulp of a tooth which results in the elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion. This set of procedures is commonly referred to as a "root canal." Root canals and their associated pulp chamber are the physical hollows within a tooth that are naturally inhabited by nerve tissue, blood vessels and other cellular entities. Endodontic therapy involves the removal of these structures, the subsequent cleaning, shaping, and decontamination of the hollows with tiny files and irrigating solutions, and the obturation (filling) of the decontaminated canals with an inert filling such as gutta percha and typically a eugenol-based cement.

  The objective of scaling and root planing, otherwise known as conventional periodontal therapy, non-surgical periodontal therapy, or dental prophylaxis is to remove or eliminate the etiologic agents which cause inflammation: dental plaque, its products and calculus, thus helping to establish a periodontium that is free of disease.

  Daily cleaning of dentures is recommended. Plaque and tartar can build up on false teeth, just as they do on natural teeth. Cleaning can be done by chemical or mechanical denture cleaners.

  A dental extraction (also referred to as exodontia) is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. The tooth will be anesthetized and once our dentists are sure the patient is comfortable, the tooth will be removed with only the patient feeling some pressure. All tooth remnants are removed and the surgical site is cleaned. You will leave with special instructions on how to care for your extraction site along with any pain medication or antibiotic that is needed.
