- Real Estate LitigationDavid has represented several pro bono clients on land use and real estate matters, including Kidspace Children’s Museum, Junior Blind of America, Watts Cinema and Education Center, and The Geffen Playhouse. He is involved in a number of civic, community and charitable organizations, serving on the Green Advisory Council of the California Environmental Voters, the Board of Directors of the Valley Industry & Commerce Association and Chair of its Land Use Committee, and the Executive Committee for the Central City Association. David also has been a member of the Westside Urban Forum, the Real Estate and Construction Cabinet of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation, the Planning Committee for the USC Real Estate Law and Business Forum, and served as President of the Board of Directors of Fusion Futbol Club.
- Eminent DomainDamon also has significant courtroom experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts. His expertise includes CEQA writ trials, citizen suits, CERCLA clean-up and cost-recovery actions, Proposition 65 disputes, an eight-week eminent domain jury trial, and NEPA actions. Damon’s day-to-day litigation practice focuses on land use disputes, typically involving CEQA.
- Land Use and ZoningSubsequently, Matt worked jointly with NASA’s Earth Science Information Program in the San Francisco Bay Area developing uses for satellite imagery in commercial applications, ranging from agricultural management for the wine industry to identifying potential water recharge and protection areas in the Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin in Santa Cruz County. Matt was also responsible for securing federal grant funds to utilize IKONOS high resolution imagery to assist governments with spatial dataset sharing and regional planning initiatives. Matt continued to the private sector as a Cartographer overseeing complex mapping projects producing topographic maps and terrain models, developing GIS applications and employing new technologies into production. His projects ranged from infrared photographic analysis of Mississippi River flooding to mapping of Iwakuni Marine Air Base in Japan for the Department of Defense. Upon leaving the cartography field, Matt worked for a land use planning firm in Malibu rising from an Associate Planner to Project Manager in two years where he was responsible for managing a wide variety of planning projects from civic to commercial and residential developments. He has experience guiding and coordinating with all requisite consultants throughout the design and permitting phases and facilitates entitlements with agency staff and planning officials.
- Condominium LawWe assist our clients in obtaining a wide range of entitlements, including those related to general plans, specific plans, subdivisions, condominium conversions, variances, conditional use permits, zone charges, site plan reviews, development agreements, coastal development permits, initiatives and referenda, cultural/historic landmark proceedings, and transportation infrastructure and planning, which encompass the full spectrum of local, regional and state planning decisions.
