Formerly known as Lonoke County Exceptional School, Lonoke Exceptional School is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of programs to promote the development of life skills for individuals with developmental disabilities. Licensed by Arkansas Developmental Disability Services, the school serves Lonoke, Prairie, Pulaski and White counties in Arkansas. Founded in 1972, Lonoke Exceptional School offers occupational, speech and physical therapies for more than 70 preschoolers and over 75 adults. The school employs teachers who provide early childhood special education programs. Its outreach department conducts in-home evaluations and offers developmental therapy services. Lonoke Exceptional School provides outreach, transportation, case management, consulting and nursing assistance services. It organizes special events and conducts computer training sessions and arts and crafts classes.
