General Info
Board-certified otolaryngologist Ayal Willner, MD, brings more than 30 years of experience to the residents of Long Beach, Huntington Beach, and Newport Beach, California, where he works with patients of all ages at SCENT – Southern California Ear, Nose, and Throat. Dr. Willner received his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1988, before going on to complete his internship and Otolaryngology residency at the many hospitals of this venerable institution. He completed his Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1994, accepting a position at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He made the trip to Southern California two years later and has spent over two decades bringing his expertise to bear on ENT problems faced by both children and adults in the southland. Through that time, he has developed expertise in many advanced procedures, including sinus surgery in children, and skull base surgery in both children and adults. Dr. Willner feels it is important to be involved in his local hospitals and has been both vice section chief and section chief of the otolaryngology section at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center/Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital, as well as vice-chair of Pediatric Surgery. He continues to devote time to the Miller’s Physician Excellence Committee, ensuring that the care each child gets at Miller’s is the absolute best it can be. Along with his medical practice, Dr. Willner invests his time in community service. He sits on multiple boards, including Miller’s Children’s Specialty Group, Young Judaea Global, and Mending Kids. He has led more than a dozen medical missions with Mending Kids, to both Guatemala and Tanzania, where he has brought his caring professionalism to children across the globe. He also performs surgeries locally, with Mending Kids, during their hometown mission in Los Angeles, where children who would otherwise not be able to get needed care can have the surgery they need. “I love being able to make my little corner of the world a little better”, he says.
