Located in Lombard, Ill., the York Center Fire Protection District provides fire protection and emergency medical services. It has more than 50 firefighters. The district serves a population of more than 50,000, including residents and businesses. The York Center Fire Protection District offers training that includes tactics reviews on fighting fire, rope and knots practice, ladder strategies and putting out training fires. It works with a dispatch agency that receives all the 911 calls, including fire, emergency medical and police calls. The district provides services for various types of emergencies, such as explosions, toxic spills, high-structure rescues, fire investigations, water and ice rescues and excavating victims from entrapment. Its ambulances respond to various emergency medical calls, including chest pain, car accidents, heart attacks, broken bones and other injuries.
